Gold Coast Branch of Native Plants Queensland is an active group with members ranging from the novice to the expert. We hold educational talks, propagate and sell native plants, organise displays and arrange excursions to places of natural significance.
Wanting to purchase Native Plants during current general shutdowns?
Our nursery and propagation facility is located in Nerang.
We have a range of native plants suitable for SE Qld home & school gardens, wildlife friendly gardens and bushtucker. ($2.50 and $5.00 tubestock)
We meet at Nerang Country Paradise Parklands for our educational talks and hope to have some nursery space there in the future. Our meetings are held every second month on the second Tuesday night. We invite guest speakers who are experts in their field of study and members are also encouraged to share their knowledge. Visitors are very welcome! Supper is provided at the end of the talk where you can get more advice for your individual gardening needs and we also draw the raffle of native plants.
On alternate months to our meetings, we love exploring some of the natural areas of our beautiful region learning more about our diverse range of local plants. We regularly organise garden visits to see how people landscape with native plants and hold an annual weekend excursion to a national park or conservation area.
On the fourth Sunday of every month, we hold a propagation morning. Currently it is held at a members’ home at Nerang. Members learn the best way to grow native species from seed, cuttings and grafting. Members are encouraged to bring in seeds and cuttings for propagation and learn which plants require different treatment and potting mixes. New members are given free plants on their first visit and often there are plants to giveaway to a good home. Afterwards we all share in morning tea and discuss the many things we have discovered or attended during the month.
We welcome visitors to our branch meetings—you'll find we're a friendly group!
