Where to buy native plants

Elaeocarpus obovatus

We hold a number of Native Plants Markets each year which feature a huge variety of native plants from a range of growers. Click below to find out about our next market & sign up to receive email updates.

If you can’t make it to one of our markets and you’re looking for native plants for your garden, below are links to community nurseries around Queensland along with details for some of the growers who attend the markets.

Nymphaea gigantea

Community Nurseries in Queensland

Are you looking for reasonably priced native plants for your garden, property, or regeneration project?  Visit your local community nursery for suitable plants and expert advice.

  • In many of these nurseries, plants on offer can be quite unique and rarely available through other sources.
  • They are staffed wholly or largely by volunteers with specialised knowledge, providing advice on choosing plants, planting, and care of native plant species.
  • Most of the plants are grown onsite from seed or cuttings obtained from the surrounding region or elsewhere in Queensland, with most nurseries specialising in plants with local provenance.
  • Native plants sourced locally are better adapted to local weather patterns and soil types, and will provide food, habitat, and shelter for wildlife in the area.
  • The nurseries generally receive support from the local council and/or organisations such as Landcare, and may offer opportunities to join in seed collecting, growing, and care of native plant species.

Because most nurseries are staffed by volunteers, contact details change occasionally. If you have any problems contacting any of these nurseries, check these details on their websites. Also, the plant prices, while correct at the time of compiling this information, can change.

The nurseries have been grouped into regions. Click the links below to discover the nurseries in each region.

If you are aware of any community nurseries not listed here or details that have changed, please email us via webmanager@npq.org.au so that the list can be updated.
